I have had the misfortune of an encounter with one of your
patients family
members. I am an independent family advocate. Your patient is one
of a set of
twins, Austin and Brandon born eight months ago to a 17 year old
named Brandy.
These kids as I understand it were born critically ill and one
remains in very
serious condition.
I also understand that the mother was asked to leave the Ronald
Mac Donald
house for drinking. I know that the maternal "grandmothers" in
this case have
raised a stink about discrimination in the open case with the
Department of
Children and Families. This is simply not true. There are many
other reasons to be
suspect.
It is my first and foremost duty, as an advocate, to all concerned
to get all
of the accurate information about a case before I can
intelligently proceed.
In this case, sadly, I believe these babies are safer with the
hospital and
other family members. When Ms. Brenda Swallow refused to complete
my initial
request for documentation of the case, she retaliated by going to
various
"support groups" of which some of them I belong and lied about why
I declined to
continue with her family's case. They have repeatedly maintained
contact with the
press and slanted their story to lesbian rights. Again, if this
were truly the
problem, the ACLU and probably Rosie O'Donnell would have had this
all over
the country by now. I am not sure, nor am I asking, what the
allegation was,
but there is simply no direct answers to my questions and based on
that I can no
longer assist this family. It also seems strange to me that no one
else is
willing to come forward to assist this family. In my experience,
these kinds of
cases (DCF) can be rectified at the outset if properly handled and
there is no
basis for the allegations, whatever they may be. As you can see,
this family
could never tell me what the allegation was in the first place.
My reason for writing to the hospital is to simply inform. Ms.
Swallow is on
an all out campaign to hurt the only person that has come forward
to help, me.
I can't imagine two seriously ill children in her care. After all
her
daughter was pregnant at 17 and gave birth to severely premature
babies.
I thank you for your time and you may forward this to any
concerned parties.
However, I would prefer that this information not be given to the
Swallow
family. I discovered that the "grandmothers" were in jail for
domestic violence
for 20 days. Obviously, I want to protect my own family from
potential danger as
well.
